Stephen Webster has found the same problem that I had with QuarkXpress 3.1. When printing to a StyleWriter, any text which is justified or has modified tracking or kerning is likely to be squashed or have ragged margins. The solution, as I found, is to launch Quark 3.1 but do not open a document. Select Typographic Preferences from the Edit menu and change Character Widths: Fractional to read Integral. This option does not appear in version 3.3 but nor does the problem. I have not found printed picture quality to be poor, although representation of bitmap images on-screen is terrible and printing is good only if the resolution of the image is originally 360dpi (to match the StyleWriter) and the image size has not been changed.
